Alex Chilton R.I.P. 1950 - 2010

Now I know how all those Michael Jackson fans feel, Alex Chilton, one of my music idols died on March 17, 2010.

This is where it started, where a 16 year old Alex Chilton was introduce to the music world as the singer of the 60's band The Box Tops.

One of my favorite stories I ever heard in rock was how a tour with The Doors changed them, especially Alex Chilton. Before that tour their management wanted to make The Box Tops like another 60's band, The Buckinghams, but after a few shows with The Doors that changed, they ditch the suits and nice clean look and became stoner hippies.

In music you're lucky if your in 1 good band, well Alex Chilton was in 2, after The Box Tops ended, he would start another that was seen as one of the most influential, Big Star.

Like I said in a post here, another in the long list of bands that should have been big back when they started, but no one paid any attention to them, overlooked by the public. And still that didn't stop them and although the voice is now gone, the music he made with The Box Tops, Big Star and his solo work will forever live on.

Big Star - #1 Record/Radio City/Sister Lovers/Live

Another in the long list of bands that should have been big back when they started, but no one paid any attention to them, overlooked by the public.

I'm sure though that 90% of people reading this have heard a Big Star song, you just don't know it, the theme song to That 70's Show, is a Big Star song, only thing is what you hear is not Big Star, you hear Cheap Trick's cover of a Big Star song.

Sometimes I don't understand people, it's insane how people in the 70's didn't fall in love with Big Star, well it's not the 70's anymore, don't make the same mistake they did, listen to Big Star, start with the following albums.

10 Acoustic Songs For Your Mind, Body & Soul

The following are 10 acoustic songs chosen by me for when it's 1am and you don't see yourself falling asleep anytime soon, so you open a bottle of wine or whatever drink you enjoy, sit back and have one of those moments in life where you think....."Damn I never should have given up on the guitar".

And right as the last song ends, right before your eyes can't stay open anymore, a feeling of peace comes over your mind, body and yes soul.

Now we all have our own meaning of the word peace. What peace is to you may not be to me.Like to you a song might be sad and depressing but to someone else that same song is happy and uplifting.

There's different reasons why I picked these 10, there's no meaning to the order they are in.Some you heard before others maybe no.If you like a guy or girl with a guitar singing without a band then you'll enjoy these.
